Fundacion Tecnalia Research & Innovation

TECHNALIA is a private, non-profit and independent research organisation resulting from the merger of eight research organisations: Fundacion Cidemco, Fundacion ESI-European Software Institute, Fundacion European Virtual Engineering, Fundacion Fatronik, Fundacion Inasmet, Fundacion Labein, Fundacion Leia and Fundacion Robotiker. TECNALIA is the leading private and independent research and technology entity in Spain and the fifth largest in Europe. It employs more than 1,400 people of which 188 PhD, and has around 3900 clients. In 2011, its turnover was 113M€ and it filled 53 patents. It is very active in FP7 program, having already gained more than 264 projects, coordinating 64 of them, with a return of more than 100 M€.

Leader of WP3. Leader of Tasks: 3.2, 3.7, 3.9.

The Materials team of the Sustainable Construction division of Tecnalia will work in the development of new aerogel-based insulating mortars in WP3. It will work in the synthesis of the aerogel materials and also in the development of the new aerogel-based mortar by studying the addition of this material to thecementitious material and characterising its properties. Furthermore, it will also take part in the DEMO WP (WP5 and WP6) and contribute to other WP. On the contrary, Energy and Sustainable Division will mainly participate in WP3 (leading), by developing solutions in the field of Solar PV and Thermal (e.g. EC PV glass), and HVAC systems, and then in the WP5 prototyping designed products and its integration into the demo buildings. At last, they will participate in exploitation and Dissemination activities.
